Insurance & Billing

Is massage therapy covered by my extended health benefits?
In most cases, yes. The majority of Canadian extended health plans cover massage therapy when provided by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). All of our therapists hold current RMT registration with the College of Massage Therapists of Alberta. We offer direct billing to 35 major providers including Alberta Blue Cross, Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, and Green Shield Canada. Bring your benefits card and we'll handle the claim on your behalf.
Do you offer direct billing?
Yes. We offer direct billing to 35 extended health benefit providers. We process the claim before you leave — you pay only any uncovered portion. If your provider is not on our list, we issue an official receipt through Jane App that meets your insurer's reimbursement requirements. Call us at 780-782-5492 if you'd like to confirm your provider before booking.
Is there GST or HST charged on massage therapy?
No. Massage therapy provided by a Registered Massage Therapist is GST/HST-exempt in Canada. No tax will be added to your invoice. This is one of the reasons an official RMT receipt is important for insurance reimbursement — your insurer expects a tax-free amount.

Booking & Appointments

How do I book an appointment?
Book online anytime at thaihealinghands.janeapp.com — available 24 hours a day. You can also call us at 780-782-5492 during clinic hours. Walk-ins are welcome subject to availability, though we recommend booking ahead to secure your preferred therapist and time.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a cancellation fee. We understand that genuine emergencies happen — please contact us as early as possible and we will do our best to accommodate you.
How early should I arrive?
For your first visit, please arrive 10 to 15 minutes early. This gives you time to settle in, ask any last-minute questions, and begin unwinding before your session starts. For returning clients, 5 minutes is sufficient.
Can I request a specific therapist?
Yes. When booking online through Jane App, you can select your preferred therapist and see their individual availability. If you have questions about which therapist is best suited to your needs, please call us and we will be happy to advise.
How often should I have a massage?
For general wellness and stress management, most clients benefit from a session every three to four weeks. If you are addressing a specific condition — chronic pain, postural issues, or injury recovery — more frequent sessions every one to two weeks may be recommended initially. Your therapist will discuss what is appropriate for your situation during your first visit.

During Your Session

Do I have to undress?
It depends on the treatment. Traditional Thai Massage is performed fully clothed — we provide clean, loose-fitting clinic attire. No undressing required. For Deep Tissue, Oil Massage, and most other treatments, clients undress to their own level of comfort with professional draping throughout. Only the area being actively worked on is ever uncovered. You are never asked to remove more than you are comfortable with. Learn more on our First Visit page.
What if the pressure is too much or not enough?
Please say so immediately — there are no wrong answers. Your comfort is the measure of a good session, not how much pressure was applied. Our therapists perform a check-in at the start of every session and midway through. If you would like an adjustment at any point, simply speak up and it will be made without hesitation.
Is it normal to feel sore after a deep tissue massage?
Yes, mild tenderness in treated areas for 24 to 48 hours is completely normal after a deep tissue session — similar to the feeling after a good workout. This is a normal part of the recovery process. Staying well hydrated in the hours following your session helps reduce post-session tenderness. If soreness persists beyond 48 hours, contact us.

Our Services

What is the difference between Traditional Thai massage and deep tissue?

Traditional Thai Massage is performed fully clothed on a mat or low table. It uses rhythmic compression and assisted yoga-like stretching along the body's energy lines. It improves mobility, flexibility, and circulation without the use of oil. It is ideal for overall body balance and stress relief.

Deep Tissue Massage is performed on a table with professional draping and uses slow, focused pressure to release chronic tension in the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It is particularly effective for postural issues, chronic pain, and injury recovery.

What is Manual Osteopathy?
Manual Osteopathy is a hands-on therapy that addresses the structural root causes of pain and restricted movement. Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, it works to restore balance across the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. At Thai Healing Hands it is offered by Supattra (Jane) Chaulker, who holds both RMT and Manual Osteopathic Therapist credentials. Please contact us for pricing and availability.
What is cupping therapy?
Myofascial cupping uses suction cups to lift and decompress soft tissue, improving circulation and relieving deep chronic tension. It is particularly effective for the back, neck, and shoulders. At Thai Healing Hands it is combined with targeted massage for a more comprehensive treatment. Temporary circular marks on the skin are normal and typically fade within a few days.
Can I get a massage if I am pregnant?
Please call us before booking if you are pregnant. Prenatal massage requires specific positioning and technique adjustments. Our therapists can advise whether your chosen treatment is appropriate for your stage of pregnancy and adapt the session accordingly. Call us at 780-782-5492 to discuss.
